Apex Legends Legacy Looks Like Everything I've Hoped For
A competitive 3v3 mode comes to one of the best BR shooters.
April.26.2021
As of late I've felt a bit of boredom with the multiplayer FPS genre. BRs seem to have taken over everything which while fun, sometimes you just want to play some shorter close-quarters games. Getting shot in the back by a third or fourth team can start to wear on a person. That's why when I saw the trailer for Apex Legends Legacy my interest was piqued. Apex Legends is in my opinion one of the best BRs you can play, so bringing that gameplay into a 3v3 mode is exciting.
Starting each match you'll have the ability to purchase weapons, items, and abilities (CSGO-esque). This isn't my favorite thing in competitive play because of the ability for a winning team to have better equipment than a losing team, but I do like the ability to save up for better gear in later rounds to even out the playing field. There are positives and negatives to it but I'll have to see how Respawn Entertainment handles the balancing of it. I do like that none of the gear you purchased follows in-between rounds giving everybody a blank slate at the start of each round. The ability to upgrade your weapons brings a bit more diversity into the gameplay as well which is always welcome.
To add onto the variability of the gameplay is that there are materials and crates (which can be picked up or opened respectively), and drops throughout the rounds with the drops increasing in tiers as the rounds go on. I think that this would help combat the gameplay becoming stale over time because of how quickly it can change the direction of the matches. We'll have to wait and see if this adds maybe a bit too much chaos into the matches but I think it will overall be a positive.
The gameplay is what I'm looking forward to the most. Apex Legends is one of my favorite BRs not just because of the BR they've created but because of how smooth and fun it is to play. The mechanics of the gameplay itself is fast-paced with a lot of movement which lends itself to a mode like Legacy. Titanfall 2 is one of my favorite multiplayer FPS' so I'm hoping to get that kind of feeling playing this.
There will also be a new Legend who looks to be very interesting to play especially because of her jetpack. Valkyrie looks to be an addition that will open up the gameplay even further adding in verticality that wasn't there before. Along with that will be the Bocek Compound Bow which looks incredibly fun to use. Not only can you use it as a normal bow which can be tough but rewarding in its own right, you can add Shatter Caps which basically turns it into a shotgun and Deadeye's Tempo allowing for a faster draw. Overall this is a massive update and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Also having a ranked mode built in as well this will most likely edge out every other multiplayer FPS that's out there right now.
