Destiny 2 to Introduce a Convoluted Transmog System

Everybody wanted transmog in Destiny 2, but probably not this.

Making your character look exactly the way you want in a game is a sought-after perk regardless of the game. Moreso in live-service games such as Destiny 2 where after hundreds of hours of hard work you want your Guardian to look just right. I was excited to see that Bungie was finally introducing transmog only to immediately be disappointed after reading how it was implemented. If you thought you would be able to simply apply a look to a piece of gear easily, guess again.

Basically you'll need to earn Synthstrand which you can use to get bounties to earn Synthcord which you can convert into Synthweave which you can then use to convert an unlocked armor appearance (Legendary quality or lower) into a Universal Armor Ornament. If you're sitting there thinking "what the hell" allow me to dive in a bit deeper.

The Synthstrand can be obtained by defeating enemies which isn't too bad. You'll need 150 to get a class-specific bounty (no telling how long that might take) which rewards Synthcord which you can then turn into Synthweave. The biggest downside of all of this is that you can only earn 10 Synthweave per class, per season. That is a huge road block if you want to put in all of the time to grinding this out. It is yet another time-gated feature that slows down players.

The worst feeling part about this is that if you want to you can just simply buy Synthweave through Eververse. Transmog is usually something that's easily implemented and simple for the players to use, but in Destiny fashion it has turned into yet another grind that can be overcome easily if you pay actual money. Because of that it will probably be something else that I'll pick up organically as I play, without putting much more effort into it than that.
