Apex Players Are Now Penalized For Leaving Arena Games Early

Devs try to rectify players leaving Arena games early by penalizing them but it's not without issues.

With the release of Season 9 Apex Legends saw the introduction of a new 3v3 round-based mode called Arenas. The matches are short and fast-paced but that hasn't stopped some people from leaving games early. Obviously some are probably leaving because they're frustrated with their teammates, maybe they are just toxic, or maybe they need to step away for a different reason; regardless of the reason Apex devs have instituted a penalty for those who leave early, a 10-minute timeout from queueing from any mode including those other than Arenas.

You'll only receive the penalty if you leave a full squad, so as long as somebody has already left you're free to go. The downside of this is if you have a person on your team who decides they don't want to play anymore they might just sit in a game and stop playing until it's over so they don't get a penalty. I'm not sure if it makes the situation better or worse.

Coming along with this update are reports that some players are getting a penalty if they win against a team where a player has left or getting a penalty even if they don't leave early (this is something I've experienced on other games such as Rocket League as well). So clearly not all of the bugs have been worked out quite yet. I think until a ranked mode is added to Arenas these types of issues will be a little tougher to deal with in the meantime.
