Early into Season 9 and two overpowered weapons have already received a nerf.

Most people hate nerfs in games because it takes some of our favorite weapons and brings them down. Season 9 of Apex Legends has only been out for about a week and some nerfs are already coming through. Along with a patch that fixed some more general issues another patch came along that nerfed the Spitfire which many people were taking a liking to, but more importantly it also nerfed the Bocek Bow.

I'm not one for nerfs but the Bocek seemed particularly overpowered with high damage, lots of ammo, quick draw times, and being near silent. These were the nerfs applied to the two weapons:

Spitfire adjustments:

  • Per bullet damage decreased from 19 > 18
  • Purple/Gold mag size reduced from 55 > 50

Bocek adjustments:

  • Max charge body shot damage decreased from 70 > 60
  • Charge up time increased from 0.54 > 0.56
  • Deadeye's Tempo charge up time increased from 0.32 > 0.36
  • Stack size decreased from 16 > 14, inventory slot count decreased from 48 > 28

The nerfs to the Spitfire were fairly minor while the nerfs to the Bocek were more substantial. It makes sense, being able to do 70 damage to the body is a lot and can be devastating early game. For me one of the strongest traits of the Bocek is still the audio for it. It's borderline silent in a game where every gun is loud. I understand having it be so quiet, if it were loud it wouldn't make any sense, but it does make it difficult to pinpoint where shots are coming from. It might just be something to get used to and with the new nerfs it's put on a more even playing field.
